Carl Jenkinson: 'Arsenal's title challenge is still alive'

Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson has claimed that his side have been prematurely ruled out of the Premier League title race.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes and Coral are offering hefty odds of 150-1 on the Gunners, who are six points of the pace following last weekend's 6-0 mauling at the hands of leaders Chelsea.

However, the North London side host title favourites Manchester City this evening and Jenkinson believes that a home win would put Arsene Wenger's men right back in the mix.

I think you've got to be realistic, but you've got to believe, he told Arsenal's official club website. It's going to be incredibly difficult, but there's going to be a lot of twists and turns before the end of the season.

If you are a player at the highest level and you play for a club like Arsenal you can never stop believing. You're in the wrong sport and you're playing for the wrong team if you're just going to give up and think it's all over when it's not.

Football changes so quickly. One minute you're the best thing since sliced bread and the next minute it's all going wrong. Things can change quickly, if we beat Man City on Saturday all of a sudden we're back in the title race and everything is back on track.

Arsenal have failed to score in four of their last five home matches against Man City.

Al-Jazeera demands Egypt release four journalists

Qatar-based broadcaster Al-Jazeera has demanded the release of four of its journalists seized by Egyptian police in Cairo at the weekend. They include its Cairo bureau chief Mohamed Fadel Fahmy and former BBC correspondent Peter Greste. The journalists had held illegal meetings with the Muslim Brotherhood, the interior ministry said. Al-Jazeera said it had been "subject to harassment" although not officially banned from working in Egypt. There has been a crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood since the army ousted President Mohammed Morsi in July. Last week it was declared a terrorist group. In the past six months, more than 1,000 pro-Morsi protesters have been killed in clashes with security forces, and thousands of Brotherhood supporters have been arrested, including the majority of its leadership. A court will hear a case to disband the Brotherhood's political wing, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), on 15 February. 'Arbitrary' The four journ...
